C\u2019est par le Col que sont pass\u00e9es les l\u00e9gions romaines, les tribus barbares, les Sarrasins, les empereurs du Saint Empire Romain Germanique, les papes, les crois\u00e9s et Napol\u00e9on Bonaparte avec son arm\u00e9e.<br>Aujourd\u2019hui, la travers\u00e9e, par cette voie transalpine s\u00e9culaire, s\u2019effectue de fa\u00e7on moderne \u00e0 travers le tunnel du Grand-Saint-Bernard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Les travaux de construction ont commenc\u00e9 au printemps 1958 sur le versant italien et, tout de suite apr\u00e8s, sur le versant helv\u00e9tique.<br>En moins de 6 ans, les soci\u00e9t\u00e9s concessionnaires suisse&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/z57nbebsowx.preview.infomaniak.website\/datapage.asp?id=31&amp;l=2\">TGSB SA<\/a>&nbsp;et celle italienne&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/z57nbebsowx.preview.infomaniak.website\/datapage.asp?id=30&amp;l=2\">SITRASB SpA<\/a>, auxquelles avaient \u00e9t\u00e9 confi\u00e9es la construction puis la gestion de cet ouvrage important, r\u00e9alis\u00e8rent le tunnel proprement dit, les gares nord et sud, les routes d\u2019acc\u00e8s sur les deux versants. Dans les deux gares sont install\u00e9s les diff\u00e9rents services de gestion des infrastructures ainsi que les postes de&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/z57nbebsowx.preview.infomaniak.website\/datapage.asp?id=36&amp;l=2\">contr\u00f4les douaniers<\/a>&nbsp;et de police.<br>Ouvert le 19 mars 1964, il fut le premier tunnel \u00e0 assurer un trafic routier transalpin durant toute l&rsquo;ann\u00e9e.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-4 is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex
