TRANSPORTING ABNORMAL LOADS THROUGH GREAT ST BERNARD TUNNEL
The Tunnel operating companies may authorise abnormal loads or vehicles to cross the tunnel. Necessary safety measures shall be respected and drivers must apply for a special permit to exceed the weights and dimensions laid down by the national laws in force in the two countries concerned. Under these circumstances, all vehicles exceeding the dimensions and weights stated in Art. 1 of the Tunnel internal procedures may be permitted to cross the Tunnel after receiving a permit from:

The authorisation is valid for the Tunnel and for the 10 km of motorway link on the Italian side and must be requested 15 days before transit.
